Off the beaten track … as someone who strays off to explore - I chose to drive the Bow Valley Parkway - which was the original road (late 1800s)from Banff to Lake Louise Pre Trans Canada - only open 8am til 8 pm due to wildlife protection - and 60km hour same reason … I had most of it to myself except for the odd crazy cyclist … sadly the first half was closed … which would have been the by the river section. Side note - no deer expert but there is usually more than one … and I also saw a bear today but nowhere to stop #bowvalleyparkway #BanffNationalPark #Alberta #BanfftoLakeLouise

Crossing the iconic Bow River Bridge (built 1921, replacing original from 1887) that extends Banff Ave across the Bow River connecting the other side at the base of Cascade Mountain. Directly in front of the Bridge is the Banff Park Admin Building. Built in 1935 of local materials in the Tudor Gothic Revival Style and a recognized federal heritage building for its historical, heritage and environment value and quality of material and craftsmanship. The Architect Harold C. Beckett designed not only the building and stone fencing w ornamental iron but the 12 acres of landscape and garden. His garden design was named Cascades of Time and while not fully implemented you can visit the part that was -the Cascade Rock Garden - which is considered a rare opportunity as not often was landscape complimented and coordinated w building in such a way. The residents of Banff consider this building to represent the federal governments responsibility to care and manage the Park and the townsite. The Cascades Rock Garden is a unique example of Canadian Landscape design. Sadly I visited it while temperatures still drop below zero overnight and it snowed on Friday - so very few plants were peeking out for May long weekend. You can see reverse view to bridge and Castle mountain 2 days ago #Banff #Cascadesoftime #canadianlandscape #heritagebuilding #tudorgothicrevival #bowriverbridge #BanffParksBuilding #architecture #rockymountains #Banff #Alberta #HaroldCBeckett #mountrundle
Moose Hotel lobby - gorgeous - the scent of a real fire in that gigantic fireplace wafts through without being overpowering - stone. Wood and some gorgeous light fixtures - little onyx polar bear sculptures and giant wood moose artwork - a lovely mix @moosehotelandsuites @bocci #mountainstyle #lodgestyle #interiors #hotelobby #banff #BanffNationalPark #Alberta
