Canadian Memorial for the Troops Embarkation from these Gosport shores for Normandy. Placed for the 50th Anniversary - the wreaths placed are for the 75th Anniversary. Henry VIII ship Mary Rose - a Warship for 34 years until the Battle of the Solent against the invading French, sunk in 1545, with only 34 men surviving. Discovered in 1971 Portmouth Harbour after extensive searching for 6 years, excavation began 1979 where 1000s of artefacts were recovered. This state of the art museum opened in 2016 where all of the latest technology and advances in DNA give not only a glimpse into life on a ship 474 years ago but also of the crew. Fascinating and worth the visit - we spent 3 hours! #maryrose #portmouthharbour
