large scale LIGHTING

Pairs or triples.  Over islands.  Over dining tables.  Over a sitting area.  The lighting is large and making a statement.

One large paper lantern low over a coffee table is simple and fits nicely with the decor.  Opaque is  good choice when there is no view out the window – it would provide a soft glow while lounging on these low sofas.

An oversized outdoor lantern is a good size in relation to the hood fan and island – and the zinc metal colour coordinates well with the colour of the hood fan and island counter colour.

I like the trio of large silver shades over the island – in combination with the rounded nine lights over the seating area.

A pair of  woven shades over the island – these actually feel too wide for the island and a little too rustic for the room.

This pair of metal industrial style lights are more mid sized, but fit well in the space.

A cluster of assorted large sized mercury globes over the dining table are an excellent idea  for such high ceilings and a large volume of space. A single globe or smaller fixtures would be lost in a large space.

A trio of silver shades, this time over a long dining table.  A trio is definitely a better choice than a single over the extra long table.

This classic lighting is perfect in this classic kitchen – timeless choice, which is why we see it again and again.

With view like this, and the texture on the fireplace, the simplicity of a single open weave globe is perfect.

I love this pair of drum shades made of capiz shell circles  – a texture great contrast to the glossy white rectangular cabinet doors and wood island.

Style at Home

A beautiful new kitchen in classic white, classic marble, classic nut brown wood floors – and a pair of really interesting antique globe lights.  This kitchen is TIMELESS – it will still look this good in 20 years.

Three large drum shades are a good choice for  an extra long island.
