Marine Building-Vancouver’s Art Deco Beauty

One of my longtime favorite buildings is the Marine Building in Downtown Vancouver.  Completed in 1930, at 321′, it was the tallest building in the city.   Easily recognizable, the exterior looks almost like it has icing on top.  The motifs throughout are marine inspired and entering through the large oak doors you arrive in a double height lobby.  The three dimensional details, the tiles and the clock are all stunning.  The elevators have amazing doors and interior marquetry panels, and if you sneak onto the second floor, there is a fantastic bird’s eye view.

If you like Architecture and Art Deco – this is a must visit.
